This Privacy Policy explains how Behind the Pour ("the app"), operated by Michael Turner ("we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, and safeguards your information when you use the Behind the Pour mobile application.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account we collect your email address and the role you select (Patron or Bartender). If you sign in with Apple or Google we receive only the information those services provide.

Bartender Profile Information

Bartenders voluntarily provide their name, workplace venue, schedule, photos, and specialty information. This information is displayed publicly to patrons using the app.

Patron Profile Information

Patrons can voluntarily provide a display name, profile photo, bio, and drink preferences. Patron profiles are not publicly visible to other patrons.

Location Information

For patrons, we use your device location to show bartenders near you. This is only used while the app is open and is never stored or shared.

For bartenders, your location on the map is based solely on the venue address you enter in your profile. We do not track your personal device location.

Photos

Profile photos you upload to the app are stored in Firebase Storage. Bartender photos are visible to patrons who view your profile. Patron photos are visible only to you.

Usage Information

We collect basic usage data to improve the app, including which bartenders you follow, broadcasts you receive, and app interactions.

To provide and improve the Behind the Pour service
To connect patrons with bartenders in their area
To display bartender profiles, schedules, and broadcasts
To authenticate your account securely

Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these circumstances:

With other users: Bartender profiles are visible to patrons using the app. Patron profiles are not publicly visible to other patrons.
Service providers: We use Firebase (Google) for authentication, database, and file storage. Their privacy policy applies to data processed through their services.
Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law.

Information We Do Not Collect

We do not sell your personal information
We do not share your information with advertisers
We do not track bartender device GPS location
We do not store payment information (handled by Apple)

Third Party Services

The app uses the following third party services:

Firebase (Google) — account authentication, database, and file storage
Apple Sign In — optional authentication
Google Sign In — optional authentication
Apple In-App Purchase / StoreKit — payment processing
MapKit — map display

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase infrastructure. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information. Profile photos are stored in Firebase Storage and access is controlled through security rules.

Your Choices

You can edit or delete your profile information at any time within the app
You can unfollow bartenders at any time
You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Account → Delete Account)
You can revoke location permissions in your device settings at any time

Data Retention

Your account data is retained until you delete your account. When you delete your account, your profile, photos, and follow relationships are permanently removed.

Children's Privacy

Behind the Pour is intended for users 17 years of age and older due to alcohol-related content. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 17. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 17, we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app.
